Conveniently located at the gateway to the splendid Loire Valley 1.5 hours from Paris and famous for its pleasant climate, Angers is a large, modern town which regularly tops the lists of best places to live in France.

The city was ranked number one for quality of life in 2019 by the L’Express magazine. As revealed by the 2020 report from the “Observatoire des Villes Vertes”, it is also officially recognised as the greenest town in France, with almost 100m² of green spaces per resident.

Renowned for its many historical sites and fine gastronomy, Angers has rich, vibrant cultural scene: cinemas, theatres, concert venues, art galleries, three big music, drama and movie festivals… Angers is also one of the most sports-focused towns in France and home to the SCO premier league football team.

With its young population (48% are under 30) and ambitious urban schemes, Angers is surprisingly well-balanced. With 42,000 students, Angers is the fifth biggest student town in France in terms of the ratio of students to the general population.

Angers is also particularly open to the world: it was chosen by China to host a Confucius Institute and it has the largest English-language library in western France. It has been building close social and business relationships with foreign towns since the mid-sixties. Today Angers has 8 sister cities around the world.
